My Study Abroad in Switzerland

The morning started with a 6am wake-up call from the tour guide of the day, Mark. We proceeded downstairs for the 7 am breakfast, which was the usual, “pork, pork and cheese”. Mark was in charge for the day and made sure everyone was equipped with their “wonderful” sack lunch, rain gear (umbrellas, rain poncho) and Gore-Tex shoes. However, it was raining out so we made sure that we were ready for our damp journey to St. Moritz. The excursion for day was Hotel Laudinella in St. Moritz.

When we arrived at hotel Laudinella, Mr. Stephanos Giannakis (Concierge) greeted us and gave us a wonderful tour of the hotel. He explained that during the summer most of the hotels guests are senior citizens. The reason for this is that the seniors could relax and have a good time in this fairly nice neighborhood at a reduced price. During the winter - the busiest time of Year at the Laudinella hotel -the guests tend to be younger because the hotel targets skiers and snowboarders. This hotel has 5 restaurants, 1 bar, 200 guestrooms and a fabulous room which allows you to place your ski’s for storage and repair if they get damaged. The hotel wasn’t Luxurious but it must be a gorgeous hotel in the winter time with all the snow surrounding it. The guestrooms are simple as this hotel is a family oriented property.

After the tour of the Hotel we went to the tourist office. Once again people at the tourist office behaved rudely and  could care-less. Mark asked a question and was answered in a rude tone and told to go get pamphlets.

Lunch time came and we sat outside the tourist office and ate the same bagged lunch we eat every time we’re away from the Swiss School. It was so cold we had to cut our day short and return back to Chur. When we arrived in Chur, I went to Migros where I purchased some things to snack on between meals.

We arrived on campus earlier than the original plan. For dinner we had Asparagus soup, Veal, potatoes, mixed vegetables and a strawberry sorbet. The meal was a very new to me but I actually enjoyed it. After dinner it was blogging time and next thing you knew it was time for bed.
